Our mandate is to find good, accurate, affordable equipment so that we can offer an introduction to water quality testing to as many people as possible.

After looking at lots of different kits, which were expensive, we started looking at sourcing supplies to make our own kits. There has been so much interest in our kits, that we decided to offer them for sale outside of our programs!

If you are looking to borrow a kit, you can look into our Ontario150 Freshwater testing program, or borrowing one of our Ocean Explorers.

Each kit has been sourced to keep prices as low as possible. We are a non-profit, so we aren’t looking to make big money! The contents of the kits have been tested in the field versus more expensive supplies, too. For example, our conductivity meter, test strips and dissolved oxygen tests were compared to expensive probes from conservation authorities and other scientists and the results were comparable!  We take every opportunity to work with scientists in the field to compare, and then ask their opinions.  Please note that we can’t guarantee that your results will be 100% accurate.

We also want this store to be a way to help more youth learn about water: 5% of what you pay will go toward youth learning water quality.  If your youth group would like to apply for sponsored kit, please let us know.

Questions? Comments? Our aim is continuous development, so your feedback is vital! You can learn more about the tests and testkit here.

Looking for something else?

We are looking into a kit that will allow people to test for different types of issues. While we can’t replicate a lab, there are a few more tests we’re looking into for suspected pollution, but they will be expensive. Please get in touch if you’re interested in different types of kits. Please also get in touch if you’re looking for larger quantities, so we can put it through in one transaction!

Training

Here’s our video on how to use our testkit. We will be producing a ‘boat’ version very soon once the ice is off the lake!
