About Water Rangers

Water Rangers builds easy-to-use, affordable tools to crowd-source water quality data so that people have what they need to help protect what they love: Water.

We are a small, mighty team doing great work in these key areas:

  1. The development of water quality testkits for fresh and marine water;
  2. The creation and management of water data management tools; and
  3. The development and delivery of curated programs, all of which support community-based water monitoring and environmental stewardship.

What kind of programs do we run?

Our ability to run programs is dependent on funding, so every year they change slightly. This year, we launched the Lake Erie Guardians program in partnership with Canadian Freshwater Alliance. In doing so, we supported more than 50 groups and individuals monitor their local waterbodies in the Lake Erie watershed.

Every year we raise the bar on the depth and breadth of our impact. Every year we get better. We have to, because every year, more people are asking, “What can I do to help?” We’ve undertaken the mission to ensure they have answers.

We can’t do it alone, though.

Running a non-profit is hard work and comes with a lot of uncertainty. We rely on grants and donations to support the majority of our work, but these things are never guaranteed. This is why we’re asking for your help this year.

We want to support more communities than ever in 2022. With your help, we can make this a reality!

[Water Rangers] has allowed us to collect baseline water samples at strategic points along our river, as our community faces a proposed mine which will sump into the river… this program gave the community a sense that we are proactively protecting the river we love, in case the mine is approved. It has given us confidence that if it is approved, we have baseline data, and can hold industry to a higher standard.
